Principal's picture

Term three is off and running and the cold weather has certainly arrived. Having spent sixteen days in Vietnam and Cambodia over the holiday break, I am certainly feeling it! Thank you to Bree Chisholm for taking up the role of Acting Principal in my four days of absence.

At the beginning of this term, we welcomed eleven new students to our school. They have all settled in very well and are now a part of the Wandong team. Our enrolments for 2018 are continuing to increase and we have begun our Story-time sessions in the Library for 2018 fourndation students.

Our grade 5/6 tee ball team competed in the divisional finals at Meadow Glen. Well done on your acheivement.

We are currently finalising our school vision statement, with families now providing feedback on the selected options. This school vision will be decided upon over the coming weeks.

Work continues on our school masterplan, with the architect team meeting with staff and students at the end of term two to gauge what's working well and what areas of our school need improving. Over the holiday break, they then developed four design overviews which were presented to the project team in week two. In depth discussions then unpacked each design, looking at the school priorities, how spaces would be interconnected and the order of works to be completed. A community consultation meeting was held on Thursday 27th July to gather additional input from the community. The architect team will now go away with the feedback received and keep tweaking the design. Once the project team is happy with the big picture ideas, the architects will then develop more detailed drawings of how classrooms and outdoor spaces will actually look.

At this stage the external fencing is being replaced, a vegetation audit has been completed and any unsafe trees or vegetation have been removed.

with thanks,

Rhonda Cole (Principal)
